Underground gay group - "Biola Queer Underground" - emerges at Biola

Pretty disturbing. We are living in the last days. This nation cannot survive much longer this way. Everyday, it is looking more and more like Sodom and Gomorrah.

Sodom & Gomorrah? Have you read the Biblical account of Lot’s tax residence? The USA with 2% homosexual population with have to do much more recruiting to reach Sodom & Gomorrah numbers. The USA is nothing like S & G. I actually think God hates believers who exaggerate (lie) as much as fornication. But that’s just me. I may just be sick of hearing the same hyperbole for the last 45 years.

I was very encouraged by Biola’s balanced and grace filled response to their “underground” problem. As homosexuality becomes an accepted alternative lifestyle choice to society and our government, Christianity is faced with having to deal with difficult questions. What do we tell believers who have same sex attraction temptations? What do we tell society when our beliefs are seen as an unpopular, minority viewpoint? Biloa U has started well. Grace with truth given in love from the viewpoint that Jesus died for everyone. Everyone includes the alcoholic, the proud, the fearful, the homosexual, the liars, the thief, the self righteous, the murder, the fornicater, the luster, the one who hates…

I don’t think numbers are Christian’s point about us becoming like Sodom and Gomorrah. It is the rapid acceptance of perversion as normal and the ferocity on imposing its acceptance on everyone through the media, the schools and the force of government. Many large American cities are controlled by the “homosexual movement” to the point of gross public displays of the the most perverse behaviors. That sounds very much like Sodom and Gomorrah to me.

My question for Biola is this: Is there any other sin that a group on campus can build an underground movement around that insists on “conversation” and will be tolerated by the administration? If not, why is this group different?

Does 1 Cor 5:6 apply only to churches, and not Christian colleges?

We might not be where Sodom and Gomorrah were, statistically, but perception is another thing. With a celebrity coming out of the closet every couple of days, with states debating gay marriage and a president arguing for it, with more of a gay presence in television programming, our country may only have a gay population of 2%, but it feels like alot more. And even those who aren’t, the acceptance of homosexuality is growing, those who consider homosexual activity sin are definitely in the minority. Yea, this is evidence that we are in the last days/age.

I agree completely. What’s next? Underground groups for witches? fornicators? thieves? The fact that the people in this so-called underground group have decided to remain anonymous, seems to me suspicious. How do we know it isn’t just a lone nut at the school, exaggerating the numbers in the group, and trying to stir up trouble and create division at a Christian college? And how did the media find out about it? Sounds fishy to me.

Grace dismissed the notion that students who are “struggling with homosexuality” would face expulsion. “I guess you’d almost call that a myth that students would get expelled for that,” Grace said.

That “struggling” terminology can encompass a whole lot of sin. If you are “good enough at repenting” a lot of evangelicals will let you wear the “struggling” mantle for a long time while continuing in direct rebellion against God. That was the case with this sin at Biola back in the early 80s. I doubt it has improved much since then.

The “conversation” terminology from Biola is pathetic, but not surprising. We don’t need to be talking to each other, we need to be listening to what God says. These people are not merely asking for charitable attitudes towards their struggles and hurts, they are asking for acceptance of sin. You don’t have a “conversation” about that.

I agree with JG. The Bible teaches us that we are to repent of our sins, and flee from youthful passions.
Only those who do not really wish to repent, will continue to entertain sin, or excuse their actions.

If with Christ, we have died to sin, then sin no longer has the power to dominate us. Christ has freed us from the power of sin, and made us free. Sure, we can be tempted, and may sometimes commit sins, but if we practice sin, then we have not really been born of God. Everyone who has been born of God does not keep on sinning.

I see these events at Biola, as an attack from Satan. It is Satan’s practice, to cause division and controversy, and to use unbelievers’ false cries for help and pity, to make us tolerant of sin.

Christian: I wish I only “sometimes commit sins.”
