More or less, what we’ve been doing for a while is failing to see the tricks in ethos and pathos (arguments from character and passion) while trying to set things up for logos—logic. It doesn’t mean it’s wrong to use logical arguments, but we also need to recognize the other modes of persuasion for what they are and deal with them. Wise as serpents, innocent as doves.
