....that when my friends and I egged somebody's house, we got in trouble! (j/k, never egged anyone's house)

Seriously, I think this is pretty close to that fine line separating Easter egg hunts and littering. I understand the desire to make Christ relevant by appealing to the culture, but this is getting to be too much "show" for my taste, as I think that appealing to minds is more effective in the long run.

To me, it’s way beyond inappropriate. A church might achieve some kind of “relevance” this way, but what kind? Seems like this kind: “Look! We can waste money putting on a show just like clubs and such that aren’t churches! Awesome, right? You’re impressed with our God now, right? … you’ll all go home in awe of the resurrection, right?”

Many pastors refer to Easter as their Super Bowl. - That seems made up. I question if this is a Babylon wannaBee.

Yeah, it must be satire… given the cost of eggs these days, and the mess involved.

I suppose the point is “churches do a lot of stupid and desperate things to promote events.”

You can plagiarize that stick in the mud thing if you like. Either way, I'm honored.

Regarding whether it's real, there were pictures of plastic eggs coming out of the helicopter, which would make it a lot less messy, but permanent littering. Dunno.

I can’t speak as to “many pastors,” but just 3 weeks ago I visited a conservative evangelical church, and the man who I think was the worship pastor said exactly that the upcoming Easter Sunday and the resurrection were the Super Bowl for Christians. I would certainly not refer to it that way, and I found it off-putting, but that comment didn’t spark any kind of negative reaction that I could see from the other attendees.

It’s hard to satirize when “you can’t make this stuff up” is kind of the motto of our times. I don’t frequent Babylon Bee, but it must be challenging to come up with fiction that is stranger than truth… while illustrating at least some truth.
