“While, as of this writing, it’s unknown exactly why Carlson and Fox News parted ways, many believe it may be connected to the network’s recent settlement with Dominion Voting Systems…. He also described claims that the voting software was manipulated as ‘absurd’ despite giving significant airtime to those claims.” - Denison

NewIn a perfect world...
In a perfect world, TC would be replaced by someone courageous, charming, challenging, but not dishonest and manipulative.
But without the paranoia-and-hostility-infused populism, could any show in that timeslot get the ratings TC did? Not in today’s social/political environment. So Fox will have to make a difficult choice: Do we succeed with our biggest fans or do we opt for better journalism and a healthier debate instead?

NewFor what it's worth...
Of course Loren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene are outraged. I expected a bit better from Megyn Kelly, but oh well.

Fixed the Hannity link.
I do think Kelly is correct from a ratings and money standpoint. In the short run Fox loses revenue on this. In the long run maybe also, depending on whether it’s part of a strategy that effectively prevents any future defamation lawsuit settlements that would otherwise have occurred.
But money isn’t everything, especially in journalism.
