The Acceptance Stage of Lost Evangelical Influence

Well written article, and the author is right to suggest that we are at various stages in grief about the loss of evangelical sway we once had. We do need to get off the obsessed with politics bandwagon (If we have been on it) and focus on a balanced, creative, social life. Not so sure about working with false religious group for the common moral good — unless it is through a third part organization (like a pro-life organization, for example). Anyhow, a good read that urges us to focus on the fact that Christ is sovereign and that the Gospel is center.

I think a big part of the problem is that evangelicals have looked to "key leaders" to have influence for them. Instead, we need to quit thinking that the way to have influence is to have TV, radio, podcasts, books, schools etc. The way for evangelicals to have influence, is for each Christian to start doing the work of the ministry as we interact with our friends, family, and neighbors. We need to stop thinking that we need to have preachers, elected leaders, performers, and authors do all the work for us. We need to be ready to give the hope of Jesus Christ and to give both Biblical encouragement and Biblical correction in a gracious way. If evangelicals are going to have an influence, then each Christian needs to be salt and light.
