NewI actually disagree with…

I actually disagree with this writer about the relationship of assurance, faith, good works, and perseverance.

The Roman church has indeed made up a lot of "good works" that have no Biblical basis. And they have substituted institutional penance for repentance. He is right to object to those elements.

But the idea that perseverance is necessary for assurance--and salvation--is biblical.

Heb 3:6 but Christ is faithful over God’s house as a son. And we are his house, if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope.

Heb 3:14 For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end.
