“Yes, it’s virtual reality (VR) church, where one can “worship” from the comfort of home wearing jammies and goggles while being represented in the “sanctuary” by a personal graphic avatar.” - Ref21/Mortification of Spin

NewWhen the command is given

Thu, 01/06/22

When the command is given that we must go into “all the world” to preach the Gospel. That means the Metaverse. “How shall they hear without a preacher”. We need to equip preachers and teachers to go into the metaverse and spread the gospel. The fields are white. This would be a great opportunity for BJU to combine their technology programs with the seminary classes to develop a Bachelor’s in Practical Meta Ministry.

NewThe "world"

Is metaverse an actual “place” in the world? I agree that it has evangelistic potential, and eventually, it may be possible to form the kind of relationships that are the essence of a local church. Maybe. But just because it can be done, does that mean it should? I’m inclined to think that even if we’re open minded about churches in virtual space, we should take the view that physical-proximity churches where humans gather face to face should have priority.

Views expressed are always my own and not my employer's, my church's, my family's, my neighbors', or my pets'. The house plants have authorized me to speak for them, however, and they always agree with me.
