Immigration as "an immediate gospel issue"

… the Old Testament is scarcely the right place to go for this topic anyway. We’re dealing there with a theocratic state consisting of a kingdom of priests for the nations

NewIMMIGRATION AND THE GOSPEL

Exactly! Much the same applies to the Sermon on the mount. Only a divine theocratic state with the atmosphere of enforced righteousness will the rubrics of the Sermon be fulfilled world-wide, nation-wide, etc. Think the “Golden Rule” without such enforcement if you want to run a bank or any enterprize involving others. Unilateral wishing, proclaiming pietistic admonitions, or even plastering the nation with some out-of-context Bible verses, much less more of the same knee-jerk liberalism, will not and cannot solve the current impasse. Such thought has finally brought us to the brink of chaos in the first place. I see and hear too much “never Trumpism” in most of what is being proposed. Some faint voices of “get over it; he won” sometimes sounds like common sense (or common grace?), if not Pauline teaching midst all the shouting.
