Thinking back to the 1970’s & 1980’s, I never would have dreamt that we’d someday see a Russian leader criticizing the U.S. for being Godless!

that according to the standard Russian definition if something isn’t Orthodox (preferably Russian Orthodox) it isn’t Christian.

Me thinks Putin is taking pot-shots at the EU and US because of all their involvement in the Ukrainian crisis/revolution. His empire has a big chunk being chipped away, and it might cause other fractures.

In a sense yes. But its actually closer to sacralism. When my wife and her family immigrated to San Francisco as religious refugees, they were sent to the Russian Orthodox welfare organization. The ROs said, “Baptists?? You can’t be Russian.”

Wouldn’t that amount to some sort of denominationalism, then? Baptists, Catholics and others have been holding to much the same thing in other countries for centuries, it seems. Sad SNIP
