Founders.org: I propose two needed revisions to the BF&M, vital to basic orthodoxy, which I think should be agreeable to the vast majority of Southern Baptists.

Both of those revisions seem justified (no pun intended). If I was a SB I would also want some revision to the fatherhood section to clarify that God is not the Father of the unbeliever. Never knew that the BFAM was based on the New Hampshire!

The 1833 NHCF is my favorite short confession of faith. It is the grandfather of the GARBC Articles of Faith and the BFM!

I knew about the GARBC but not the BFAM. I guess it makes sense. It’s probably my favorite too.

No, I was not responding to any post. I had in mind working on my own statement of faith for ordination, and then revising our church’s doctrinal statement. I felt a tension between declaring succinctly what I/we believe on the main things, yet feeling at every point that I needed to add a sentence or two about this, or a paragraph about that. At the rate I was going, I would have produced a small book.

Haha yeah that’s easy to do. You should post your doctrinal statement when you finish it. It would fun to read.
