Worth noting here is that, as far as I can tell, nobody here is even trying to separate out what part is loneliness, what part is obesity, and the like—and oddly, I think it might be a good thing. Loneliness and boredom lead to other (often sinful) habits, and hence looking at loneliness is “one more why” that enables us to reach out more effectively to those with those habits.

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
