New“The CSB is not a gender

Thu, 06/15/17

“The CSB is not a gender-neutral translation of scripture, nor were the CSB translators trying to produce one. On the contrary, the translators intended to produce an accurate translation that faithfully renders what the authors of scripture intended to communicate. The CSB has admirably achieved this goal. The critiques of Merritt and Robinson in The Atlantic are completely off-base.” -Denny Burk

Good article by Denny Burk, referenced above.

Everyone is going to disagree here and there with a translation. But this allegation against the CSB is simply not true.

Still, my favorite translation is the NKJV.

Anyone want to help start a “NKJV Only” group? :-)

NewCall me confused

I had thought that the whole point of a “Convention” as opposed to a “Denomination” was to unite on essentials and allow other issues to be decided more locally. Stupid me.

David: :^) I also seem to remember “Geneva Bible Only” groups (tongue in cheek) railing against the 1769 KJV “perversion”, and that Tyler (?) has been a huge fan of, I believe, Tyndale’s translation. (do I remember that right?) I personally love and use the KJV, NKJV, Luther’s translation (modernized), the Berlenburger Bibel(1726-8), and the Geneva Bible (1599).

My take on the HCSB is that it reads a lot like the NIV. Good thing for lower reading levels, and to get the gist of the passages without going into too many neat details. But that said, I love those little details.

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
