Thought this was interesting:

“With a few glorious and glaring exceptions, the shadow of Jim Crow was cast in its new glittering form expressed in the language of superficial diversity,” West wrote in the letter about the current culture at Harvard.”

I haven’t read the West book in my wishlist yet (not really looking forward to his political positions) but he does at least seem to be fairly honest.

NewGotta say I agree with him....

….though (per Josh’s comment) precisely why I agree with his end conclusion might differ from his interpretation. It would be interesting to see where he sees “Jim Crow” these days—what I’ve seen at times in “my” circles is things where most whites have forgotten, or never learned, where African-Americans first heard some ideas, and why they might find it objectionable. Or, perhaps put in words a black man might use, “If my grandfather first heard the idea from someone who wore his bedsheets to social gatherings, think twice before reminding me of that idea.”

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
