These are the same people that would have turned a blind eye to race-based slavery, when it was socially acceptable to do so. Not a real moral backbone among them.
Andrew, I’m not sure what you mean… It’s a pretty thoughtful article though I’m tired of the question. Either they will or they won’t and only time will tell. Whoever “they” is.
As for the comments section on that post, pretty typical. But I can’t see any grounds for guessing about how they would have handled this or that 20 yrs ago…. or more like 160 if we’re talking about race based slavery.

Sorry, Aaron. That’s the problem with communicating in forums like this: sometimes what sounds clear in your head isn’t. My point is, statistically many of those who are most stringently in favor of SSM now weren’t 20 years ago. They shifted with the cultural tides. So their moral high ground is suspect. I see little reason to suspect that those would be among the sort who would take a stand opposing other social ills when such were unfashionable. Make sense now?
I have spent way too much time reading blogs on both sides of the SSM decision. From what I have read the average person out there who supports SSM does so because he or she wants to be free to do what they want to without anyone else saying anything about. If they want to divorce their spouse, they should be able to with no flak from anyone. This desire for freedom causes them to think that homosexual couples should have the same freedom. I don’t think it is direct support as much as it is a desire to not judge anyone lest they be judged.
