He probably only used the metaphor to mean something like “it’s really weak,” but “shaky ground” may be more insightful than he realized. If his faith is on shaky ground, it’s on the wrong ground.

We don’t mainly need a lot of faith. We need faith as small as a mustard seed but in the right object.
