Regnerus is doing some valuable work, but (again) I wonder if he’s over-simplifying things. Certainly the acceptance of fornication and even “swiping” for partners is going to reduce the demand for marriage, but we can’t ignore family law/divorce court, or the 1000 ways government “helps” (generally by hurting) the married, either. I’ve even seen some things in fundgelical-land—counseling methods that assume that if a guy every gets angry while driving, he’s responsible for everything wrong in the relationship, things like that—that have got to contribute.
