"Do American Christians Need the Message of Grace or a Call to Holiness?"

“Grace is more than some benign, sweet syrup poured over us by a God who only says, ‘I love you just as you are; promise me you won’t change a thing.’”

Titus 2:11-13

Views expressed are always my own and not my employer's, my church's, my family's, my neighbors', or my pets'. The house plants have authorized me to speak for them, however, and they always agree with me.

NewSkeptical of the Methodist's take

Tue, 01/29/13

The Methodist commentator omits from his response that he believes (or at least his denomination insists) that at some point, a genuine Christian’s failure to pursue holiness sufficiently results in the loss of salvation. Seems to me that necessarily makes his take on the holiness/grace discussion less appropriate as a counterpoint; he’s not necessarily comparing apples to apples.

Newi think the bottom line

Wed, 01/30/13

is that someone who thinks that “grace” doesn’t lead to holiness doesn’t understand grace.

NewWell said, Anne

I think Anne head hit the nail on the head. Grace and holiness go together. Scripturally speaking, we can never truly have one without the other.

NewGrace teaches

Tue, 02/26/13

Why I love Titus 2.11-13 so much.

The salvation-bringing grace of God teaches us what we must “deny” and what sort of life we ought to strive to live.

Views expressed are always my own and not my employer's, my church's, my family's, my neighbors', or my pets'. The house plants have authorized me to speak for them, however, and they always agree with me.
