It’ll be interesting to see when the promised paper comes out what the actual numbers are. I’m good with noting that there are consequences to the use of any drug, but the incidence rate and severity is the kicker. Otherwise it’s just slippery slope fallacy.

To draw a picture of the kind of numbers we might want to see, here’s a good link. How many users, how many addicted physically or in a serious habit, how many deaths, etc..? To draw a picture, if a quarter to half of adults—say 50-100 million Americans—have tried marijuana, an equivalent number of deaths would be well over 100,000 annually.

Or, put more specifically, we don’t want to see this kind of numbers, of course, but having this kind of numbers is essential to intelligently respond to the risks of marijuana.
