I watched the entire 2.5 hr conversation a week or so ago. I was fascinated by it. I recommend it to anyone interested in this subject. It is a genial, nice conversation that I think folks on both sides of the aisle will find helpful.

Tyler is a pastor in Olympia, WA and works in State government.

NewAnderson is a certifiable nut

Anderson is a certifiable nut. Why James White wasted 2.5 hours on this is beyond me.

By the way, this is why you don’t let people video you without defining how the video can be used. Anderson edited that video to his advantage and used it in his crazy movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2gjhG8zJ4g

Newcetifiable nut

Well…just because you disagree with someone doesn’t make them a nut. GregH, did you watch the video? I think you would find it educational. You should watch it before you condemn someone, even if you think his other actions are wrong. GregH, do you know that Anderson is the one who released the video of the conversation? He insisted that the movie producer do so.

An interesting takeaway from the video: Anderson got twisted up defending the KJV position by allowing White to get him to say that a person couldn’t get saved from an NIV. I think what Anderson meant to say from the outset (before getting lost and drawn into White’s attack…) was that a truly saved person should be able to get Word of God out of the KJV. Too many people act like reading the KJV is reading Egyptian hieroglyphics when it isn’t that bad… Then, White really messed up in his claim about 1 Timothy 3:16. White did write in his book “King James Only Controversy” that he preferred the KJV reading (it is on page 261 of his book). Having listened to White for several years he sometimes gets it twisted up and he claims it is the modern Greek editions that say “God was manifested in the flesh” and KJV says “He who was manifested in the flesh”. The truth is the other way around.

Mark, I did watch the majority of the video though I will pass on being educated by Anderson. Steven was a nut before he ever did that video however. One of the funniest preaching videos of all time is his “p*** against the wall” video which I try to watch a few times a year because it makes me roll on the floor laughing. And then there was his border crossing stunt. And then of course, there are his KJV videos. Yep, a nut.

The trailer I posted above is a dishonest use of the video. I am not saying it is not a common thing to do but I did watch much of the full video and know the context of some of those cuts used in the trailer. It was not right to do that.

Anderson is a nut case. Simpleminded folk buy into his message.

that calling a Christian minister of the gospel whom you disagree with as a “nut”. I think that violates the spirit and content of the comment policy. I am further alarmed that a moderator participated in this. I think you both should repent and not do that in the future.

I consider him a false teacher. Nice try Mark.

Jim, thanks for the link again. I am falling out of my chair laughing as I speak. How does a preacher recover from this?

So does Anderson have empirical evidence of this trend among American pastors? How did he undertake his study? I mean “clipboard in hand?” … surveymonkey?

I think I’ll pass on this video. And on the KJVO argument in it’s entirety.

Does anyone know if the “Will Kinney” in the YouTube comments is the same guy who used to hang out on SI and argue the KJVO position?

Mark,

A couple of related questions: Could you personally see yourself sitting under Steven Anderson’s preaching every week? Do you think you would be fed & edified in God’s Word?

NewThis reminds me of a funny

Thu, 08/21/14

This reminds me of a funny story. I grew up in the a very rural area and a tiny church. We could not exactly get “A-list” evangelists to come but we found some evangelist that would come preach a revival when I was maybe 7 or 8. He came out to the house for dinner one night before the revival. We lived on a farm and were proud of it so we showed him around. We were out at a building and I turned around and sure enough there he was um, doing what Steven champions. I had never seen that before (nor since if I am being honest) and I was frankly appalled. But it goes to show that there is at least a bit of truth in Steven’s message. In times gone by, real preachers did indeed p*** against a wall.

Can’t find it but there was a YouTube video of his smashing a very large TV. Now that’s entertainment!
