This is happening close to home. This past year, someone in our town wrote a letter to the local paper, arguing for individuals to recognize the need to self-regulate the number of their offspring. Our neighbor went on to say that if individuals would not choose for themselves either not to have children at all or to limit themselves to one, then it would be sad but necessary for the government to step in and mandate population control in order to save the planet from human beings.
