Rainer really only has, despite his list, one point; boomer pastors need to consider stepping down from positions of authority and management and choose instead to mentor younger believers. In other words, Matthew 28:19-20 is not accomplished solely around the preaching from the pulpit.
The comments section is also very interesting. One particular point of interest is Mark Smith (our Mark Smith?) comments on an apparent neglect of those born between 1964 and 1980 or so in the church—the first generation to be decimated by abortion, yes, and also one that fell square into the cross-hairs of cultural fundamentalism—beards, rock music, etc.. I don’t see it as much as a generational thing as a cultural thing, but of course it correlates, and whatever our positions, we ought to take it seriously.
