The idea for this survey came to me after seeing a “Filings” article about the Catholic church seeing a rise in requests for exorcisms.
I have been involved in a handful of situations involving ghosts or voices, although I have never felt a need to perform an out-and-out exorcism. I have seen, on one occasion, occult phenomenon.
The survey is about reasonable believers. I don’t think many of us here doubt that lost people can be possessed, harassed, or bothered by demonic activity. And I think we all agree that Satan can interfere with communicating the Gospel, etc. We are talking about occult phenomenon of some sort (at least) among those who believe.
Most of us probably make a distinction between the degree to which a believer can be influenced and the degree to which an unbeliever can be influenced.
And certainly, smack dab in the middle of this issue is the widespread problem typically called mental illness.
