NewThe church's role:

The obvious verses that comes to mind:

“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” (James 1:27 ESV)

“If any believing woman has relatives who are widows, let her care for them. Let the church not be burdened, so that it [the Church] may care for those who are truly widows.” (1 Timothy 5:16 ESV)

NewThat low?

Fri, 06/12/15

To be honest, with all the divorces, people who never marry, and the like, it surprises me that it’s “only” 25% of senior citizens who face the end of their lives alone. And for that matter, having a number of older relatives, and having spent some time in nursing homes and assisted living facilities, it’s clear as well that there are a lot of seniors with spouses and children that are all but abandoned…..

(prove me wrong, and I’ll be very, very thankful, by the way)

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
