Capitalism is, of course, just a system. It is a remarkable system, but as with any human structure, sin will remain. We are fallen creatures in a fallen world, and thus, the basic act of buying milk can sometimes, well, turn sour. But that doesn’t mean we rail against the basic liberty and systems that enable such transactions to take place, which is all that capitalism aims to do.

Aside from the theological errors of Roman Catholicism and the multitudes of historical blunders, the Church of Rome has another ignorant leader. Pope Francis seems to be willfully blind to the FACT that capitalism has generated more prosperity as well has more charitable giving than any other economic system the world has ever known. What he seems blind to is that his own Church, the richest of all corporations/institutions, actually gives from its corporate coffers very little to resolve the poverty of the poor nations of the world. I am referring to the ever-mounting assets it possesses which represent a treasure the Church is unwilling to use. Remember the priest who said: “It’s been a long time since the Church could say: ‘Silver and gold have I none;’” to which a second priest replied: “And it’s been a long time since it could say: ‘In the name of Jesus Christ, rise up and walk.’” As Peter once said: “It is time for judgment to begin at the house of God.” The Pope would do well to clean his own house before he criticizes others.

A reliable estimate of the Church’s wealth. Each week in the USA alone the Church takes in an estimated $850 million in offerings by its constituents. The Vatican income annually is $350 million euros, making it the richest State that exists. Hypocritical or just very inconsistent. We all have our blind spots. As you’ve suggested, a man has to have to have some huge blind spots to be Pope and go around being vocally anti-capitalist… but I can’t put it past him. So many these days don’t see the huge contradictions in their own belief systems.
