Sanctification, Heidelberg, and the "third use of the law"

it is mentioned that FBFI is anti-calvinist. One of the things that personally bugs me about Reformed churches is all of this effort for catechisms or confessions. I am interested in parsing verbs in the Bible, not from confessions.

They explain things. They may not always be right, but they attempt to explain the particular position of a given group.

This AM our pastor mentioned both the Nicene Creed and the Council of Chalcedon. For Baptists most value the London and the NH confession

In the words of Spurgeon, “Everyone has a creed.” They are trying to protect a heritage of sound doctrine and they feel they do it best through confessions. Jehovah’s Witnesses are interested in Greek too. So are Mormons, Catholics, etc. at most churches these people would be excluded from membership since their beliefs do not square with a doctrinal statement. That is just one function of “creeds” and confessions.
