Webb Telescope Finds Evidence of Massive Galaxies That Defy Theories of the Early Universe

"According to most theories of cosmology, galaxies formed from small clouds of stars and dust that gradually increased in size. In the early universe, the story goes, matter came together slowly. But that doesn’t account for the massive size of the newly identified objects." - Smithsonian

If confirmed, it will be interesting to see how new theories develop to accommodate these findings.

NewMichio Kaku

Mon, 02/27/23

The YouTube host seemed to be trying to cover his incredulity at Michio Kaku’s claim that they’re probably black holes. I wanted him to ask how they look like they do if they’re black holes, but he didn’t.

The takeaway for me was, these guys are mystified. I think science is absolutely worth doing, but digging into the big mysteries generally leads to more mysteries. There’s no end to it. (Worth nothing that for Christians, there are mysteries of how and what but never of Who or ultimately why.)

Views expressed are always my own and not my employer's, my church's, my family's, my neighbors', or my pets'. The house plants have authorized me to speak for them, however, and they always agree with me.

NewI am not sure a blackhole…

Tue, 02/28/23

I am not sure a blackhole would provide much better reassurance, as that could take billions of years from initial gas, to formation, to supernova, to black hole, to light reaching us.

I think there is the same concern around evolution on 1) whether the current theory can really explain what we see, and 2) whether there is really enough time to justify the diversity and what was created.
