A bit old, but interesting… Why people stick by scandal-plagued pastors Related: No, Bishop Long, we cannot ignore the past

NewSo true

I have been through more than a few of these growing up in fundyland. This article nails it—many people cannot bring themselves to leave even when you have the glossy 10X13 photos…sad but true.

NewConference/Platform separatism

Wed, 06/29/11
I thought this comment was interesting:
After his refusal to address the issue publicly, openly and truthfully, I don’t see how any pastor could participate in a conference with Long on the rostrum.
As to the first article, ultimately, it comes down to the exaltation of man. Pastors must teach that we also must be held accountable. We must teach I Timothy 3, Titus 1, and I Timothy 5. Even if this man is innocent of the accusations, he is no longer above reproach. If he doesn’t have the integrity to remove himself from the ministry, he should be removed. It shouldn’t be left to individual church members, many who are weak in faith and untaught in the Word, to decide whether they are going to remain under his teaching.
