Look at how complicated the situation is. The Buddhist majority is implicated in a lot of what’s going on there, but USWA is a major drug-running (opoium, heroin, meth) group with backing from China. Tonsuring is done by Buddhist monks and nuns, but they are animist—so are the Christians fought because they’re cutting into drug business, and is the tonsuring to make them look like Buddhists? Lots of questions there, and if we think we have problems…..
