I remember reading through Celebration of Discipline back in the early 1990s, and remember being not that impressed—really very troubled—with it. I just couldn’t see the links between Scripture and what he was recommending. Particularly troubling to me were the fasting and simplicity sections.

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
