Assisted Suicide Advances in UK’s House of Commons

What I find odd, is that when death is viewed through the lens of capital punishment it is viewed as cruel and unusual. And the cruel and unusual is focused on the suffering that takes place during the act of capital punishment and the process that is followed. When that same process is followed in assisted suicide it is viewed as compassionate.

There are numerous cases in Canada, Benelux, and elsewhere where instead of offering care, euthanasia is offered. In some cases, people are "put down" without consent. The combination of single payer health care and available euthanasia is just plain scary, right out of "Logan's Run".

To be sure, with exploding costs for things like chemotherapy, there needs to be some coherent way of addressing costs vs. benefits, but allowing insurers to literally kill their expenses is not the way to go, IMO.
