Beyond the reality that a faithful rendition of The Odyssey would probably get an "X" rating--it's a brutal story--I agree with the author. There seems to be a disease in Hollyweird (and elsewhere) where every English major with a C GPA thinks he's (she's) a far better writer than Shakespeare, Homer, Twain, and the like. The trouble with this comes as each of these screenwriters takes a few threads out of the original tapestry without realizing how the whole carpet will be weakened.
