“I have met with couples who have only ever tried to resolve conflict by raising their voices, and with others who have only ever tried to resolve it by going silent. I have met with some who have only ever relied on text messaging instead of speaking face to face, and with others who have long since given up and don’t even bother trying” - Challies

NewIt would be interesting...

...to see what portion of Christian divorces result from ordinary conflicts gone cancerous, vs. what portion result from the big "dealbreaker" behaviors like physical abuse, adultery, and the like. My observations are limited, but where I know, it's predominantly the "dealbreaker" behaviors, and hence it's well past the ordinary place where tips on communication styles ("don't just text one another") are going to seriously change things.

Not against those tips, but there is a time where it just becomes a lot more obvious. Or maybe the cases I've seen are just the tip of the iceberg where ordinary behaviors of contempt become metastatic before any big dealbreakers are out there.

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
