But I don’t get the gratuitous dig “fundamentalism doesn’t have anything like that”. It seems uncalled for. SI could call and ask those questions and report the answers they get. Doesn’t matter who does it. I’ll give it some effort myself, but I am in a situation this weekend that will preclude getting to it as quickly as I could wish.

You are being to tough on the poster. My take on his comment is that Fundyland does not have an equivalent of the Evangelical Council of Financial Accountability

Some ministries are upfront about their finances, but most are not. Instead one must research using Guidestar. I myself could not find Project 14 on Guidestar

AND the 990 approach is always about 2 years old.

Thank you for taking the time to search us out. The creditors that will need to be satisfied soon can be found at this link: http://p14gm.org/savenorthland/faqs. July 23 is the deadline that was set by the Northland board of directors as 3 weeks from the date of the press release, which was this past Thursday, July 2. If the deadline is not met, meaning that the total $1.2 million is not raised, then the monies would be returned to the donors.

Q: Where does P14GM line up with traditional fundamentalism/Christianity?

A: P14GM is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization, unaffiliated, and traditionally conservative in relationship to Baptist polity and fundamental distinctives. We believe in institutional conservatism and individual liberty practicing deference, love, and non-judgmentalism toward those who may differ. We desire to equally apply ‘truth’ and ‘grace’ generously in our life applications while being firmly rooted in biblical principles.

Can I just note that it is incredibly discouraging to me that I have now seen two calls for the ‘restoration’ of ‘traditional’ fundamentalism / ‘old’ Northland through the P14GM organization? Are we really about Christianity and the Fundamentals, or are really after the re-establishment of a specific kind of religious and social culture?

Maybe I’m reading too much into those remarks (one via FB yesterday, and the above), but man, it seems like people have this idea that you can’t be a “Fundamentalist” (whatever that means anymore) without culottes, conservative music, and the King James.
And as for ‘non-judgmentalism towards those who may differ’ - well, we’ll see about that. It’s pretty obvious that if you aren’t a “traditional / conservative Fundamentalist”, you’re in error from what I have read over the years.

[kuiper530] I know CoBeAc is owned by the Fundamental Baptist Fellowship of Michigan but can’t find any records on them. Anyone else know how to look them up?

In 1959, a group of churches purchased a large piece of land located in Prudenville, MI and started what would become Camp CoBeAc. With a few cabins, a dining hall, and a chapel, CoBeAc was used of the Lord as a place for youth groups all over the state to come and use for their summer camp. Camp CoBeAc is owned and operated by the Independent Fundamental Baptist Fellowship of Michigan (IFBF) and has been serving thousands of individuals from churches across the Great Lakes region for over 50 years.

I wish they had let the funeral go on. This has done violence to my expectations. Why can’t we let Northland rest in peace? Why are people traversing the land and spending time and energy keeping the thing out of its well-earned rightful grave?

This comes of overachieving on enthusiasm. Project 14 is what the latest posse of graduates to the rescue is called, I gather, and has a slogan which tells me what I need to know.

“The goal of Project 14 Global Missions is to reach the world with the Gospel starting in Nicaragua.”

After lots of prayer and consideration we felt the Lord leading us to begin reaching the world through Nicaragua, instead of a place with a major airport. And Dunbar.

Is it the facilities? Too hard to resist letting go of all that solid campground property? Here is a beautiful facility in the middle of nowhere and what a shame to let to go to a productive turkey farm. Because we need solid camp ministries in a location that is an ordeal to reach, and of course solid conferences held in northern Wisconsin in January, and above all a solid graduate program far from any polluting legitimate academic endeavor.

I agree with those who don’t see this proposal as a good idea. I realize it would be a great real estate bargain, and would place Northland’s property back under fundamental Baptist control, but there are other areas to consider. Northland’s funeral will have to go on, and the signs at the campus entrance will need to be changed. Let’s pray for God’s will in this matter.
