“The statement, signed by leaders of the SBC Executive Committee and other of the denomination’s national entities, didn’t say specifically what federal investigators are looking into, but they referenced an internal investigation into the Executive Committee’s handling of sexual abuse allegations.” - C.Index

NewI'm sad....
….to see it come to this, but four years back, when we were debating the issues with Paige Patterson, one thing I noticed is that Patterson appeared to be pulling a Hilliary or Trump and retaining (and releasing!) information that I believe properly belonged to Title IX sexual assault investigations. That’s supposed to be private until it’s released by participants.
On the flip side, by at least opening an investigation, albeit four years late, the FBI is doing better than it did with the Nassar non-investigation. Still not good, but at least getting started, and hopefully (Southern Baptists are indeed generally more conservative) this is not another example of the FBI investigating conservatives intensely while leaving more liberal malefactors (e.g. the public schools) unbothered. (they also have a huge issue)
Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
