Why Does the Universe Look So Old?

Age of the Earth

“When it comes to the age of the universe, Christians find themselves in a bit of a conundrum. At least, those Christians do who hold to a traditional interpretation of the first two chapters of Genesis—an interpretation that leads them to believe the universe is something less than the billions of years indicated by contemporary understandings of the scientific data”

To allege that the earth is billions of years old is usually a view that is put forth by those who deny the clear statements of Scripture that place a limit on such an idea. People who start out with a presupposition that God does not exist feel they must explain rationally how we got here. The unworkable hypothesis of evolution is thought to be possible if sufficient time is added for mutational miracles (which find no basis in reason or science). A belief in multi-billions of years for the earth is discounted by a host of facts that make it implausible. Denial of these facts only reveal the ignorance and bias of atheism/agosticism.
