There it goes. We need to drop culottes now, because they are now fashionable.

NewI grew up in a Christian

Sat, 08/09/14

I grew up in a Christian culture in which girls/women wore culottes for anything that involved recreation. In my Christian school, the boys played sports in shorts. This was before Michael Jordan popularized long shorts, so our basketball and P.E. shorts were short. But girls wore billowy culottes which swooshed when they ran in them. I don’t know why nobody saw a double standard in that.

NewI looked at the ads in

Mon, 08/11/14

I looked at the ads in yesterday’s paper and saw that flannel shirts are apparently back in style, too. Oh, how it hurts to be a little bit stylish! (does it help that my plaid flannel shirts are wool—am I less stylish, I hope?)

But that said, not that stylish. Suffice it to say that this 45 year old is not going to be seen in skinny jeans. Or, rather, at 205 lbs, there are many things I am, but “skinny” is not among them. I’ll leave that to Driscoll and MacDonald, both of whom appear to outweigh me by at least 50 lbs. :^)

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
