Even a very modest investment in the original languages can help parse things out, as in the slavery thread, where the definitions of ‘avad and doulos, as well as yesh, make a big difference in the conclusions one would draw, versus simply using the English translations “slave” and “own.”

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
